This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI and the value it can unlock across every aspect of an organization’s business and operations through developing software and hardware that is driving tremendous change across the industry. As a Principal Software Engineer, ML Kernel Optimization, you would be responsible for leading the development and delivery of performance optimized matrix multiply kernels for all of SambaNova’s product lines, and you will work on and coordinate with different layers of the stack. It is a critical role responsible for driving optimizations that enable SOTA machine learning model performance on the SambaNova platform.
Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering performance optimized kernels for core deep learning operations, like matrix multiply, for various generations of our hardware architecture
- Collaborate with various teams at SambaNova (hardware and architecture, compiler, and performance) for aiding hardware-software co-design
- Follow general software engineering best practices including setting up and maintaining regressions
- Use and aid development of internal tools for simulation
- Lead a team of engineers focusing on the same mission
Basic Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in CS or EE
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience
- Proficiency with C++ and Python
Additional Required Qualifications
- Along with 7+ years of industry experience, have at least 3 years of experience with relevant deep learning algorithms on accelerators or GPUs
- Solid understanding of hardware architecture
- Excellent software programming skills, including debugging and performance analysis
- Ability to define project goals and scope
- Good communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance-oriented parallel programming
- Experience with dataflow architectures
Annual Salary Range and Level
The base salary for this position ranges from $165,000/year up to $210,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
