Job Type: Contract

Duration: 3-6 months with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment.

Schedule: Flexible 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm Pacific Time, with occasional nights and/or weekends as needed for high priority work.

Work setting: In-person, in-office (Palo Alto, CA) 80% of the time

Responsibilities

SambaNova Systems is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Validation Test (DVT) Engineer (Contractor). The person in this role will be responsible for:

  • Creating formal Design Validation Test (DVT) plans and reports
  • Executing the plan for functional and marginality testing in lab set up and thermal chambers
  • Working on high-speed NRZ and PAM4 Serdes, PLLs, re-timer
  • Understanding the clock architecture
  • Troubleshooting and analyzing complex problems, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
  • Documenting methodology for test requirements, plans, procedures, and results
  • Developing, drafting, releasing and maintaining test procedures, and performing related configuration management activity
  • Ensuring the quality and accuracy of released test documentation
  • Documenting methodology: develop, draft, release and maintain

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in EE, CE, or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and analyze
  • Knowledge of PCIe, DDR5, PCIeG4/5, 100G-400G Ethernet, I2C/SMBus, SPI and other system interfaces
  • Experience in root-cause analysis
  • Experience working on complex systems: 20 layers board stack-up and speeds of 100G SERDES or higher
  • Familiarity with the system architecture of advanced server, networking and AI/ML processing platforms and their interfaces and interconnects
  • Lab experience of using test and measurement equipment: signal/network traffic generators, simulators, etc.
  • Strong lab skills with measurement experience (VNA, TDR, Real Time/Sampling Scopes, BERT, SSA)
  • Programming experience using languages such as C, C++, Python, scripting languages.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and a team player
  • Data manipulation, screening, organization, and processing experience with Excel and custom programming
  • Track record demonstrating rigorous documentation, record keeping, formal data management, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Good data analysis and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent follow-through

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base wage for this position ranges from $90.00/hour up to $100.00/hour. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. This opportunity is a contract role of 3-6 months with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment.
